nieme morze we mnie

silent sea in me

  1. The sound of waves deep inside in us has a soothing effect. To have the sea in you - a nice idea. Good juxtapositon of noise on wet asphalt and sound of the sea! These acoustic phenomenons are similar. And I like the change from outside to inside.

    Well done

  2. I am very happy that you read perfectly layer after layer of my haiku. Soon I will be analyzing your haiku, and also write my impressions! It's nice to meet someone with similar sensitivity and perception of reality.
Very well seen the acoustic similarity.
But I do not know whether or not notice that it is "silent" or "mute" the sea - a very important tip.

    Haiku greetings!

  3. Dear Marek,

for “silent” I found “cichy” and “milczący”.

“Mute” means “niemy”. If you press the button “mute” while you are watching television you can see the film but you cannot here anything - like a person who is deaf (głuchy).
So if the sea is “mute” you cannot here anything.
When the sea is silent there is a silent mood, a relaxing mood.
Maybe “calm” would be a good translation as well. I think “calm” means “spokojny”.

  4. @ Rudi!
Exactly! You called my dilemma in this haiku. Originally, and this is in Polish, I wanted more of the dramatic importance of the "sea in me" as a sea mute - as if the tire noise "sucked" inside the song of the sea. I do not know, however, whether the importance of quiet, calm and silent, "the sea in me" will not be interesting for the general atmosphere of this haiku. I tend to be more to your, or a quiet acceptance of this inner sea:)

    Yours!

  5. Hi Marek,

I think the following text could be in in line of your thinking:

    tire noise on wet asphalt
    deep down inside me
    the sound of the sea

    also possible:

    tire noise on wet asphalt
    deep inside of me
    the sound of the sea

    Warm regards
    Rudi

  6. Your suggestions are interesting and worth thinking, but I think that in this state in which it is currently haiku interpretation leaves more space for the recipient and it is ultimately important to me.

Thank you very much for your involvement in this text!

  8. Czasami słyszę, czasami nie - jak my wszyscy, póki tu jesteśmy.

  9. Chodziło mi o "nieme morze".
Skoro szum opon na mokrym asfalcie wywołuje
obraz morza... to i odgłosy chyba też.

Dzisiaj to poczułam. Rzeczywiście bywa takie "morze" i z przypływem i z odpływem, któremu trudno się wysłowić.
